Rob Bruce is a Los Angeles and Mammoth Lakes-based director of photography. His career has spanned more than 20 years with success in genres including action, lifestyle, documentary, adventure, motorsports, and sports. Bruce served as DP of the critically acclaimed and Emmy nominated documentary film McConkey, nominated in the 2015 Outstanding Sports Documentary category. Bruce’s work includes serving as action unit DP for the wingsuit action sequence in Transformers 3 – Dark of the Moon, which took home a Taurus World Stunt Award for Best Specialty Stunt sequence and a SAG award nomination for Outstanding Performance By Stunt Ensemble. Rob also served as an additional DP for Art of Flight – The Series for Netflix. Bruce most recently served as 2nd unit DP on the Point Break remake for Warner Brothers and Director of Photography for reshoots on the film Playing With Fire for Paramount. Additionally, Rob has been photographing branded content for Red Bull, BF Goodrich, NIU Scooters, and Michelin. Rob’s commercial credits include brands such as Apple, Jeep, Lincoln, Verizon, BF Goodrich, Michelin, Pacifico, Red Bull, Adidas, Google, and Lenovo.
Bruce’s experience in all genres of film makings from documentary, broadcast commercials and studio films make him an indispensable asset regardless the genre or budget. Rob recently won an international 2016 Silver Clio award for outstanding cinematography on the Samsung “snail” ad created by Leo Burnett Chicago, and the feature length documentary he photographed titled Distance Between Dreams won the 2016 Surfer Poll “Best Documentary” award among others.
